Newsletter - January 2014

Hi everyone, first of all I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and a happy new year to you all.  Thank you for your support last year, I hope to see lots of you in 2014.  I find it hard to believe we have been in our new location for 6 months now, it is lovely to have so much more space.  If you haven’t been to see it yet, I can assure you will not be disappointed.

On our open day in September we had a Macmillan donation pot for the refreshments, which together with our coffee morning raised £66.60.  I have passed this onto Anita, so hopefully we will receive a letter of thanks soon.

We sent out 232 cards to our forces in Afghanistan before Christmas taking our new total to 4,729! Card’s donated.  We had a Christmas card from Afghanistan thanking us for our donations.  We are now working on some valentine/love cards to send.

Our Crochet classes are going well, Lona is a great teacher.  We have mastered various stitches and made a wishing star for the Christmas tree, a granny & a daisy square.  We are looking forward to learning lots more, our next session is Friday 17th January 7-9pm. Beginners are welcome, we meet fortnightly, you will receive hand-outs and patterns with these sessions.

We had an amazing day with Ann Pickard on the 1st December, we made all the sugar craft models for our Christmas cakes.  Between myself & Katie we made so many figures we had to bake 4 Christmas Cakes to put them on! The models can be seen on our Facebook page.  Everyone enjoyed the day so much we are having Ann back in May for hopefully 2 days. A class in Southampton & Whiteparish, dates to be confirmed nearer the time.

New for 2014, one Saturday a month ‘it’s never too late’ let’s not get caught out. Working towards a Homemade, Handmade Christmas 2014, something I’ve been trying to achieve for years. A chance to craft to your hearts delight, creating things you love, to give at Christmas 2014.

We have a suggestion box on the table, so if there is anything you would like to learn or have any ideas, we would like to hear about them. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook. Please note all classes need to be booked in advance with a £5 deposit paid.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon. Crafty hugs Sarah  X
